The goal of these newsletters is to inform clients of possible changes in the economy, income tax laws, rules with regards to estate duty, wills or possible changes on our investment philosophy.
Newsletter December 2024
We are already at the end of 2024. Citizens of sixty-four countries, including South Africa, have gone
to the ballot boxes to cast their votes.
In America, the Republican Party had a massive victory as Mr. Donald Trump was elected as the 47th
President. Some countries have seen great changes, but in other countries things have remained
unchanged and wars still rage in certain parts of the world.
Newsletter June 2024
The biggest worldwide elections in history will take place in 2024. Sixty-four countries, representing
more than half the world’s population, will vote in 2024. Annexure A gives an overview of the countries
that will vote this year. This will cause tremendous uncertainty to offshore markets along with the
ongoing war in the Ukraine and the Middle East. We will discuss these aspects later in the newsletter
in subsections with the opinions from different fund managers.
Newsletter December 2023
It is now six months later, and we can look back and see how markets performed in 2023. People say
the past is a perfect science, because we can see what happened and can see what we could have done
differently. We can also see what we did correctly throughout the year. 2023 Was a year of recovery in
financial markets.
Newsletter June 2023
The 2023 financial year started more positively than a year ago. A year ago the war between Russia
and the Ukraine was still new and the world was concerned about how long the war could last.
Stock markets and bonds were under tremendous pressure. Interest rates were low at that stage
but started to increase.
